WoundExpert Launches Electronic Prescriptions and New Patient Portal

Pittsburgh, PA – June 6, 2011 – Enhancements to the WoundExpert software now support Meaningful Use criteria, including the addition of a new module that allows physicians to electronically submit and track patient prescriptions and the launch of a Patient Portal to offer patients easier access to their clinical information.

WoundExpert’s eScripts module allows physicians to electronically generate and submit prescriptions directly to a pharmacy, improving patient safety and resulting in time savings for both the physician and the patient. The module also allows for easier tracking of prescription status and requests from the pharmacy. The eScripts module includes more than 76,000 pharmacy options through the SureScripts database.

Facilities can now offer patients convenient online access to their clinical information, including lab test results, problem list, medication list, and a medication allergy list, through the WoundExpert Patient Portal. “Studies show that patients who are engaged in their health care have greater success in healing rates,” Mr. Hayes said. “We are particularly excited to help our clients meet this important objective of the HITECH act.”

WoundExpert version 5.1.1.0 was certified as a Complete EHR by the Drummond Group, an ONC-ATCB approved testing entity, on June 03, 2011, Certification ID number: 06032011-1153-8. By meeting the 2011/2012 criteria, WoundExpert supports the Stage 1 Meaningful Use measures required for eligible providers to qualify for funding under the HITECH Act. WoundExpert is 2011/2012 compliant and has been certified by an ONC-ATCB in accordance with the applicable certification criteria adopted by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
